Our mission is to help growers to achieve better quality fruit
with higher yields while maximising their profitability.
Independent Tissue Culture Laboratory
The Fruitlab was founded in 2019 by Craig Taylor and Steven Frankel in order to deliver better products and growing technologies to the agriculture sector.
As global populations increase, growers need more efficiencies in all areas of the value chain.
What is plant tissue culture?
Plant tissue culture refers to the culturing or maintenance of plant cells, organs or whole plantlets under sterile laboratory conditions in order to produce virus and disease-free plants. This involves the use of carefully formulated chemical preparations to induce desired biological effects such as shoot or root production.
The genetics or structure of the plant is not changed or modified in any way.
Why plant tissue culture?
- New plantlets can be grown in a short amount of time.
- Only a small amount of initial plant tissue is required.
- Plantlets are more likely to be free of viruses and diseases.
- The production of multiples of plants in the absence of seeds or necessary pollinators to produce seeds.
