Craig is a plant scientist whose research expertise extends from tissue culture to plant physiology in the field and greenhouse. His most recent research work was in the Netherlands at Wageningen University where he is a PhD candidate, having collaborated with Signify BV (Formerly Philips Lighting BV) to aid in the formulation of efficient lighting strategies. In particular, his work focused on the optical monitoring of photosynthesis in real-time under a wide variety of spectral conditions.
This work combined Craig’s two passions – electronic design and plant physiology – and he contributed significantly to the design and construction of custom electronics for extremely sensitive measurements. It is this dedication to innovation using often novel but practical technology that Craig sees as vital to solving the greater problem of increased food production in terms of not only volume but also efficiency.
